Overview

Dr. Ravishankar Polisetty is a distinguished clinician–scientist whose work spans a rare interdisciplinary spectrum—cardiovascular surgery, regenerative medicine, immunology, integrative Ayurveda, analytical chemistry, biotechnology, and digital health. He has authored 60+ scientific contributions, including international peer-reviewed publications, with 11 additional papers currently under review.

His scholarly footprint includes keynote addresses, conference presentations, wet-lab demonstrations, and expert lectures delivered across India, Europe, North America, and Russia, demonstrating both academic depth and global engagement.

1.Cardiovascular Surgery & Cardiac Regeneration

Dr. Polisetty’s core clinical and research training is in cardiovascular surgery, including CABG, valve repair and replacement, congenital heart disease surgery, and management of ischemic mitral regurgitation. His PhD work focused on the future of patients with ischemic mitral regurgitation, comparing outcomes of mitral valve replacement vs repair in 140 patients.

  • The role of P2X4 receptors, immunomodulatory phthalazine derivatives, and nitric oxide pathways in cardiac inflammation and heart failure.

With more than 10 years of experience in analytical and synthetic chemistry, Dr. Polisetty has worked with:

External Research Consultant Johns Hopkins University, USA

Dr. Ravi Shankar Polisetty has acted as an External Research Consultant to Johns Hopkins University since 2013, contributing to:

  • Pre-clinical study design for a novel compound targeting LVH and aortic thickening in chronic hypertension.
  • Method development for HPLC assays, accelerated and real-time stability studies, solubility, plasma protein binding, permeability, and metabolic stability.
  • Toxicology: single-dose acute and repeated-dose toxicity in animal models.
  • Preparation for human trials under regulatory oversight of the Ministry of Health (India) and global requirements.

He has also contributed to the development of novel biopolymers for drug-eluting stents (DES) and has experience with coordination involving regulators like the FDA.

Clinical Trials & Industry Research

Arbor Surgicals, California, USA

As a Clinical Study Coordinator, he oversaw clinical trials for bovine pericardial heart valves later acquired by Medtronic in a USD 320M deal. Responsibilities included protocol development, investigator and site selection, monitoring, data management, and regulatory submissions.

Panacea Contract Research Consulting Limited, Canada

As Director R&D, he led preclinical and clinical research projects, including:

  • Reverse engineering of artificial aortic valves
  • Discovering new pharmacological actions of phthalazine and phytosterol derivatives on P2X4 and PARP receptors
  • Toxicology, pharmacology and regulatory strategy for multiple investigational products.

Sai Ganga Panakeia (India & Russia)

As Chief Executive and Director of R&D, he:

  • Directed trials on Atherolyzin™, a polyherbal formulation for ischemic heart disease, under Indian regulatory supervision (CDCSO & DCGI).
  • Led genomic evaluation of herbal components and ongoing biotechnological projects to enhance formulation efficacy.
